When most people think of an eco-friendly car, they think of a compact or subcompact vehicle that is short on comfort, space, and style. Well, we want to tell those folks: think again! The 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid is a midsize sedan with sleek style, spacious comfort, along with high gas mileage that rivals its eco-friendly competitors.

The Benefits of a 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Engine, Transmission, and Mileage

The front-wheel-drive Camry LE has a combination of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors that together bring 225 horsepower. All-wheel-drive is available in all trims and adds a third electric motor for the rear axle, for a total combined 232 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission is available for both the front-wheel and all-wheel-drive models. The result is a very responsive ride in the city and on the highway.

When it comes to mileage, the Camry is especially impressive. The Camry LE front-wheel-drive sedan clocks in at 53 mpg in the city and 50 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel-drive model comes with slightly less mileage performance, with 51 mpg in the city and 49 mpg on the highway.

Powertrain

The Camry has always been good at keeping up with the times, and in 2025, it’s proving it again. Now hybrid-only, it’s ditched the gas-only engines and old hybrid setup for the all-new Toyota Hybrid System. At the core is a reworked 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine putting out 184 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque on its own, boosted to 225 horsepower with the hybrid system, or 232 if you opt for all-wheel drive (a first for the Camry hybrid).

Here’s what that means in real terms: the front-wheel-drive 2025 Camry gains up to 17 horsepower over its predecessors, out-muscles the 2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid by 33 horsepower, and edges out the 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid by 21. And if you’re going for all-wheel drive, the numbers tip even further in the 2025 Camry’s favor. As for gas mileage, the Camry delivers up to an estimated 51 mpg combined.
