Heath, OH is an excellent place to explore, with plenty of parks and green spaces dotted throughout the city. Additionally, you can score a lucky catch in several places right nearby. 1. Lake Hudson 

Less than 10 miles away in nearby Granville, Lake Hudson, on Old River Road, is an excellent spot for fishing. You’ll find a number of different regional species in these waters, including perch, crappie, largemouth bass, and different varieties of catfish. You can also find white bass in the lake.

The fishing is best in the morning, so make the short drive nice and early if you want to land some big ones. This lake is idyllic, easy to find, and has plenty of nearby parking, so you don’t have to walk too long with your haul of fish.

2. Buckeye Lake State Park

Buckeye Lake State Park, 2905 Leibs Island Road NE, is less than half an hour down the road in nearby Millersport. It’s an excellent place to visit for many recreational activities, including canoeing, watersports, and fishing.

Buckeye Lake itself stretches a total of 3,100 acres and is teeming with all sorts of different types of fish. You can find channel and bullhead catfish, perch, crappie, and bluegill. Plus, the lake is also great for swimming and boating, and you can find plenty of great hiking trails ringing the park.

3. Dillon State Park

Roughly half an hour away in Nashport, Dillon State Park, at 5265 Dillon Hills Drive, is a hiker’s paradise full of winding trails. You’ll also find plenty of fishing on the fantastic central lake there. Arrive early for your chance to snag some hybrid striped bass, crappie, largemouth bass, and bluegill.

4. Stadden’s Landing 

Staddens Landing, at 11059 Stadeens Bridge Road, is right in the heart of Heath and a great place to go fishing if you don’t want to have to drive too far. It sits right on the Licking River and is an excellent place to catch different types of catfish. Flathead, largemouth, channel, and smallmouth bass are all indigenous to the river. Set off early for a relaxing few hours on the landing and be back in Heath for lunchtime.
